I have been taking photographs for as long as I can remember. I have also "played" photographer for as long as I can remember - thinking I was being all sophisticated with a great eye and I would have these great shots to show for it. Wrong. I have taken a ton of awful photographs! But hey, everyone has to start somewhere.
Between the ages of 17 and 27 I was fortunate enough the have the opportunity to visit France, Spain, Alaska (twice), the Bahamas, Oregon, and Washington. During these trips my photographs started improving. My eye for composition was slowly developing and my desire to take better photographs was flourishing. Somewhere along the way I started to feel like a real photographer - I was not "playing" photographer anymore. However, something was missing. I would not find out what that was until the end of 2010, at 30 years old. My new beginning happened during Christmas break in 2010. My dad had purchased a new DSLR for himself and decided to give me his older (but still awesome) Nikon D200 with an 18-200mm lens. That day, my world changed. You see, until then all I had ever used was point-and-shoot cameras. My dad introduced me to a whole new world of photography and I fell in love (with my new-to-me DSLR). This is what was missing in my photography - a great camera. It opened up endless possibilities to me and awakened a desire to do something real with my photography - to BE a photographer. So here I am - a year and a half later - a photographer embarking on a journey to take my photography to the next level (with the help of this blog and Google+). I am still learning how to use my camera (I have 3 lenses now - thanks Dad!) and I am on a quest to learn every technique and trick in the book to achieve that great shot. My passion for photography grows as my knowledge of photography grows. I'm excited to see the photographer I will become. This is me. This is my journey. This is my life.
